July 2021 Gold Expedition

We really enjoyed the challenge of completing our expedition section of the Gold Duke of Edinburgh award. After leaving Banbury at around 6am on Monday 5th July, we walked for 6 days and camped for 5 nights, arriving back around 8pm on Saturday 10th July. We completed a back-to-back expedition, meaning that the practice and qualifying expedition were all done within the week. For the practice, we camped at Brimpts Farm and walked for the two days, arriving back there each evening.  On Wednesday, we set off on our Qualifying expedition and camped at Teinghead Farm,  Beardown Farm and Sheepstor Farm over the next 3 nights. Although it rained on and off everyday, we were all in high spirits (even when falling in multiple bogs!)  At the end of our expedition, we were to do a presentation to the assessors on our aim and they subsequently told us that we had passed.

Please click here to see the article written by  the old Year 13 students about their Gold expedition in Dartmoor October 2020.

We have been bowled over by the grit and determination that those Year 13 students  showed towards completing their DofE Gold expedition in October half-term 2020.  Looking at the photos and reading the article by the students.  It does not really show the ghastly weather that they endured!  When we read the assessors comments after, we were so proud of their achievements.
