World Cup 2010
Here’s your chance for predicting the winners of the World Cup 2010. You will find attached a form for you to print out, complete and return to the Finance Office with your money by 16th June.
It will cost £1 of which 50p goes towards a prize fund and 50p towards Friends of The Warriner School swimming pool roof fund.
Also attached is an example sheet.
For each of the 8 groups can you please select your first and second place teams.
In the example sheet you will see winners of group A are South Africa (1A) and second are Uruguay (2A). In group B we have Nigeria (1B) and Argentina 2B).
You get 3points each if they are correct and 1 point if they get through but in another position. After the group stages we have the round of 16.
The third match is 1A v 2B so that is South Africa v Argentina and in the example you can see I would expect South Africa to win.
The fifth match is 1B v 2A Uruguay v Nigeria which I have predicted Nigeria would win. You get 4 points for each team you correctly predict gets into the quarter finals. The first semi final will be made up from the winners of the first two quarter finals.
You get 5 points for each team you correctly name as getting into the semi finals. You can get a further 6 points for naming the finalists and another 10 points for the overall winner. A bonus 5 points is available for naming the winner of the golden shoe for scoring the most goals in the competition.
