We hope that exploring the site gives you a strong sense of our culture and ethos. At The Warriner we are strongly committed to creating an environment within which every individual knows that they are a valued and a key part of the school community through placing emphasis on developing the whole person. In doing this, we develop happy confident students who are fully supported in order that they fulfill their potential both academically and personally.
Through working in partnership with our students for their intellectual, moral, physical and emotional development we aim to instil in our young people a lifelong desire for learning. We seek to emphasise a moral obligation to show understanding and respect to others, and to foster a collective sense of shared responsibility and care.
Our aim is to play an energetic part in the local community of Bloxham and beyond and very much view our wonderful school farm as being at the heart of this.
We want The Warriner School to be a happy school where every individual is valued for their unique contribution to the organisation and if you would like to find out more, please do not hesitate to contact us.Dr Annabel Kay Headteacher
As you are aware, we had an inspection visit from Ofsted two weeks ago. I am now able to shout about the outcome. I am delighted to report that we are judged to be Good in all areas with some, such as aspects of teaching and learning, academic progress and behavior and safety close to outstanding. The visit was triggered by the recent opening of our sixth form so I am particularly delighted that this too was deemed very strongly Good despite only having been open for just over a year.
One key reason for not judging us to be Outstanding yet was that the sixth form has not been open long enough to produce a consistent record of A-level results. However, the inspection team stated that the school’s tracking of students’ current progress, the high quality of teaching and students’ impressive work indicate that the results in 2015 will be at least as good, if not better than those achieved in the summer.
This positive Ofsted report follows on from our best-ever set of GSCE results, a feat also highlighted by the Ofsted inspectors in their report. The 2014 results clearly set us to be the top performing school in the area in terms of the percentage of students getting A*-C grades in their GCSEs, including the vital subjects of Maths and English. We are also in the top 20 per cent of all Oxfordshire schools.
As you are aware, two thirds of our GCSE students (66%) achieved the benchmark of A*-C with English and Maths which is 11% above the national average of 55%. The GCSE results in English and Maths alone were even more striking, with 80% of Warriner students getting A*-C in Maths and 81% in English. The results nationally are just 71% and 67% respectively.
I am delighted that we have had the highest level of recognition of all the amazing things that we have achieved recently. Our sixth form has gone from strength to strength and our results, both at GCSE and AS level have proved that we continue to teach our children to succeed.
