We believe, as the Government has now come to realise, that ICT is one of the most important subjects that a student can learn. We also believe that in addition to being a subject in its own right, ICT should be an integral part of every subject. Our aim at The Warriner School is to prepare students for the wider world. We teach students how to use and extend the applications that are included within Information, Communication and Technology. These are mainly: word processing, desktop publishing, databases, spreadsheets, multi-media, communication, systems and control. A big development of our work, particularly at KS3, is on the social, moral and cultural impact of ICT. We deliver all of the Year 7 curriculum using the Warriner School Farm as the focus. This allows students to experience some of the real world issues affecting the farm and indeed any other business. Students study a range of applications in Year 7 and 8 before moving onto a certificated exam course in Year 9 – AiDA (Award in Digital Applications) this is a nationally recognised qualification which also counts as GCSE points. This course takes one year and covers all of the above applications. |
