The Warriner School's Flagship Award

The Warriner School, Bloxham in Oxfordshire, part of The Warriner Multi Academy Trust, has recently been awarded Flagship Status as part of their Inclusive School Award. Indeed, there are only 194 schools nationally who hold this status and just 2 others in Oxfordshire. The Inclusion Quality Mark Award provides UK schools with a nationally recognised validation of their inclusive practice and ongoing commitment to developing educational inclusion.

Sharon Nicholls, Head of School, explained that the IQM review team stated it was, ‘clear that everything the school does is underpinned by their moral purpose to drive educational excellence through their vision to challenge everyone to be the best that they can be.’ The report highlighted the impressive, embedded culture of improving provision and outcomes for all students regardless of their specific needs.

Much of this work has been developed in collaboration with the students who have led the diversity agenda, creating the ‘Everyone Different – Everyone Equal’ mantra which is displayed around the school. Students are immensely proud of their work on child-on-child abuse, and they have created their own student statement displayed in every classroom. The message is clear: a lack of tolerance is unacceptable.

Dr Kay, Executive Headteacher, said, “We have always been highly committed to being inclusive for all students and I am delighted that our moral purpose has been recognised by this flagship award. Being a fully comprehensive community school has always been really important to us, so to have this recognition is something to which we are all very proud.”
